Bentang Oasis didirikan sebagai bentuk kepedulian terhadap krisis ekologis dan sosial yang ditimbulkan oleh ekspansi industri ekstraktif dan perkebunan monokultur di wilayah Jambi. Kondisi ini telah memicu berbagai konflik agraria, baik antara masyarakat dengan korporasi maupun antar kelompok masyarakat sendiri, serta mengancam keberlanjutan lingkungan hidup dan kearifan lokal.
